IDF Paratroopers are an all-volunteer elite unit with rigorous acceptance criteria. Acceptance in the unit is followed by a tough training regimen that screens out all but the very best Paratrooper candidates. IDF Paratroopers have a reputation for strict discipline, courage, initiative, dedication to duty and the highest standards of performance. They play a major role in maintaining Israel's security and have participated in both special and regular operations against terrorism, including the rescue of the hijacked passengers and crew of a French airbus at Entebbe, Uganda in 1976.
