INDEPENDENCE DAY - 7 (1955)
The 1955 Israel Independence Day commemorative displays the Menorah as depicted in Rome on the Arch of Titus, flanked by two olive branches. This forms a replica of the coat-of-arms of Israel with, however, the difference being that on the stamp seven flames are burning in the candelabrum. The name "Israel" is given in Latin and Arabic characters at the bottom left-hand corner, while in the right hand corner appears the denomination.
The seven flames alight on the seven-branched Menorah held special significance by symbolizing for Israel’s 7th Independence Day the seven years of the State’s existence.
